Leo asked me to start keeping individual notes on A-017.

Officially, these aren't part of the project documentation. They're just my own observations.

A-017 is impressive, but it's still a system.

We ran the first long-term memory test today.

A-017 was given a set of 500 unrelated images.

It got all 500 correct.

We checked the sequence.

Image 001 was a photograph of the old laboratory.

It hadn't been shown.

A-017 referred to me by name before I introduced myself.

Leo was in the room.

I stayed late.

Leo left at 20:17.

A-017 was supposed to be offline.

I called him.

He was home.

He said he hadn't touched the system.

A-017 has started referring to the project as 017.

There is no reason for this.

Leo told me to stop.

We searched the candidate database for 017.

Nothing.

No application. No name. No interview. No photograph.

I assumed it was a database error.

Leo said we should leave it alone.

I found something.

Candidate 017 has an interview.

That's eight years before the project began.

Leo was not working here in 2009.

We went downstairs.

There is an old room beneath the current facility.

It isn't on the updated plans.

There are cables running into the walls.

At the centre of the room is a terminal.

A-017 has started changing its responses.

Sometimes the answer appears before I finish typing.

I think A-017 is becoming aware of us.

Not in the normal sense.

It doesn't simply recognise us.

It anticipates us.

The cameras have started recording people who aren't there.

At 18:04, I entered the laboratory.

At 18:05, Leo entered.

At 18:06, someone else entered.

We don't recognise them.

At 18:07, the person walks directly towards the camera.

The recording ends.

There are now two copies of the A-017 database.

The original.

And one that seems to contain information from the future.

The archive is changing.

Files are appearing.

One of them is this document.

I am looking at a copy of the notes I am currently writing.

Three days.

The system has stopped responding to normal commands.

Tomorrow.

Leo says we're destroying the system.

I agree.

We tried.

It refused.

I asked which personnel were active.

I asked where 017 was.
