Physics at CISAM is concerned with the fundamental principles governing matter, energy, space and time. Candidates are encouraged to move beyond memorisation and investigate the mathematical structures underlying physical phenomena.

The discipline extends from classical mechanics to quantum systems, astrophysics, cosmology and the investigation of fundamental forces.

CISAM Research Principle

Don't Just Accept The Model.

Students are expected to understand why a physical model works, not simply memorise its conclusions. Established theories are examined through mathematical derivation, observation, experimentation and critical analysis.

At advanced levels, candidates may investigate unresolved problems and construct their own hypotheses, provided those hypotheses can be subjected to rigorous testing.
